According to Reuters, Apple has offered rare discounts for iPhones in China, and the price of Apple phones in Chinese stores has dropped by up to 500 yuan ($70) to encourage people to buy iPhones.
Apparently, the price of Apple phones has dropped by five percent in some models. These discounts are part of Apple’s project to celebrate the Chinese New Year and will continue from January 18 to 21.
The sales of the latest Apple series phones in China have been much lower than the previous models. Domestic competitors such as Huawei and Xiaomi have made it difficult for Apple by offering competitive models of Huawei and Xiaomi phones.
Some Chinese companies and government departments have restricted the use of Apple devices by employees. With this action, China has tried not to leave the US sanctions unanswered.
Analysts at Jefferies, an American financial services and investment firm, said iPhone sales in China fell 30 percent year-on-year in the first week of 2024, marking a 3 percent decline overall from 2023.
Apple did not change the price of its new iPhones in recent years and repeated the same process for the iPhone 15 to the surprise of analysts.
Chinese online shopping platforms including Pinduoduo have reduced the prices of iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro by 16% since the beginning of the year.
