Instagram welcomes 2023 by introducing new features. One of the features is called Notes, which is a new way to share thoughts using only text and emojis. The next new feature is Candid Stories, modeled after the BeReal social network.
In addition to these, Instagram is working on other features, including Group Profiles for sharing content within a profile and Collaborative Collections, a feature suitable for users looking for a different way to collect interesting posts.
Notes feature a simple way to share thoughts
One of the features is called “Notes“, which allows users to send very short texts and notes similar to Twitter. It is said that although this feature looks like tweeting, it cannot replace Twitter.
Users can send 60 characters of text and emoji using Notes. Meanwhile, on Twitter, it is possible to send tweets of 280 characters. Also, these texts will not appear in the feed. Instagram users can only share such texts with a limited group of people and they appear as small chat bubbles above the profile picture in the Direct Messenger section.
Candid Stories feature modeled after BeReal
Another new feature of Instagram that is going to be available to users first in South Africa on a trial basis, is called Candid Stories, which is modeled after the BeReal social network. BeReal social network has gained popularity among some users around the world.
This social network asks users to share a real picture of themselves once a day, otherwise, they won’t be able to see the posts of their other friends. It seems that Instagram’s new Candid Stories feature is also modeled after BeReal in order to attract users’ attention.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Instagram confirmed earlier this year that it was testing the feature, and Candid Stories will first be available to users in South Africa as a test starting next Tuesday.
Group Profiles feature
The next feature is called Group Profiles, according to which users can share content in a profile and this content remains in their profile. Instagram has announced that this feature will soon be available to users. The Wall Street Journal has mentioned in its latest report that Instagram is testing Group Profiles in Canada, Chile and Taiwan.
Collaborative Collections feature
In addition to the mentioned features, Instagram is also working on another feature called Collaborative Collections. Users who are looking for a different way to collect interesting posts to share with their friends can use this feature to share posts in groups or direct messages.
