Apple has apparently registered the trademark “xrProOS” for its mixed reality headset under the guise of a company in the US state of Delaware.

Just weeks before Apple’s WWDC 2023 developer event, the company has apparently registered the trademark “xrProOS” for its mixed reality headset under a Delaware company.

Relevant documents show that a company called Deep Dive LLC based in the state of Delaware, USA, filed a new trademark application for xrProOS on May 18, equivalent to May 28, for the commercial launch of the headset in Argentina, Turkey, and the Philippines. The same company also applied for the xrOS trademark in New Zealand earlier in May, and Apple appears to be behind both trademark filings. Apple seems to have done this for the intellectual property of its mixed reality headset.

New trademark registration for Apple’s mixed reality headset

Deep Dive LLC also applied for the xrProOS trademark in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom on May 18, the filings show. The company first applied for the trademark on April 27 in Jamaica. Jamaica is usually where Apple first applies trademarks related to future products. This is because the country does not have an online searchable trademark database, which helps to keep trademark information confidential.

It should be noted that this is the first time that news is reported about the xrProOS brand and it is not clear what Apple has planned for this brand and in what products it wants to use it. Mark German, a Bloomberg reporter, mentioned in his report that the operating system of the Apple headset will be called xrOS. Mark German says Apple will likely introduce its own mixed reality headset called Reality Pro, and xrProOS will reflect the Pro branding. It is also possible that Apple has no plans to use this new brand name.

Previously, other brands have been registered by Apple, and it remains to be seen which brand the Cupertinos will use for their mixed-reality headset.
