Although Meta’s CEO describes the situation as normal, losing half of its users is certainly not pleasant for any platform.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the company’s new social network, Threads, built to compete with Twitter, has lost more than half of its users.

Rival Twitter managed to attract more than 100 million users five days after launching last month. But according to the BBC, Zuckerberg has now announced that the number of users of this platform has decreased.

Meta CEO said:

“If you have more than 100 million registered users, ideally it would be great if all or even half of them stay on the platform. “We are not at this stage yet.”

Zuckerberg, who raised the issue in a meeting with Meta employees, described the situation as “normal” and said he expects user retention to improve as new features are added to the app.

At launch, Threads was criticized for its limited features and functionality. Meta has since added new features, such as separate feeds and translating posts into different languages.

The company’s product manager, Chris Cox, also told employees at the meeting that they are now more focused on adding features that will bring users back to the platform. For example, the feature will be provided so that Instagram users can also see important trends. These two social networks are closely related to each other, and users must have an Instagram account to sign up for Threads.

Meta announced its quarterly financial report yesterday. According to this report, although the tech giant reported a loss of $3.7 billion in the field of Metaverse, it had its best quarter since 2021.
